KL Rahul is one of the most talented batsmen in world cricket. The team management, cricket experts and the fans were going gaga over the qualities Rahul showed in his early international career. But it has all come downhill since the South African tour. Rahul is averaging just 24 in 18 Test innings he has played in 2018. Since his amazing hundred against England, Rahul has been in terrible form in the T20s also.
In the current series against Australia, Rahul has not been able to make most his chances so far. He averages a meagre 13.50 while his strike rate is also under 100. for his failures,  he is receiving a lot of flak on social media for his innings in the third T20 international against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Rahul was struggling to get going and scored 14 runs in 20 balls before getting out to Glenn Maxwell. The fans seemed frustrated by the repeated number of chances afforded to him despite not performing well.
Here are some of the reactions: -

In the first T20 also former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar criticized India’s decision to send Rahul at No.3 before captain Virat Kohli. He said that under no circumstance should Kohli have handed the No.3 slot to Rahul in the opening game of the series.
“I don’t think Kohli should have batted at No.4. In the first match of the tour, you want to bat on the position you generally bat on. It is only when you have won a series, you take such chances,” Gavaskar said after the match.
Former Australia skipper Michael Clarke also weighed in on the situation saying, “Virat Kohli is that batsman who can come in, take a few balls and bat till the end and win you games. I would want to see him bat up the order at No.3. He can even open but not go down the order.”
India levelled the three-match T20I series against Australia by recording a six-wicket win. Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 61 to take India to victory. Krunal Pandya made amends for his disastrous spell in the first T20 by registering the best-ever figures by an Indian in Australia when he picked up 4 wickets for 36 runs.
